Security Consulting and Investigative Services

Computer and communications systems are integral to the operation of today's organizations providing a multitude of vital functions. These same systems have also become increasing vulnerable to unauthorized access, attack, and malicious data manipulation.

Federal Engineering, recognizing the need to secure these systems, established a communications and computer security practice in 1983. As we analyzed various computer installations, it became clear that in addition to the newly emerging threats of remote access, traditional physical security issues required reevaluation. FE has, therefore, expanded its information security practice to include traditional physical security analyses.

Comprehensive Corporate Security Vulnerability Assessments

A comprehensive evaluation of corporate and facilities security is performed which includes all major areas of operations. The emphasis is on identifying threats to and vulnerabilities of people, property, and information which criminals or competitors can detect and exploit. The assessment includes protective systems, access control, key executive protection, financial instrument security, payroll and accounts payable security, proprietary and sensitive information protection, receiving and storage accountability, emergency planning, and limited computer security review. A detailed written report of findings and recommendations is provided and supplemented with oral briefings.

Security Consulting Services

These services are designed to provide corporate security assistance to smaller corporations whose size and/or operations do not lend themselves to supporting a full time security staff. Specialized services can be provided on a periodic or as needed basis under contract. FE takes the time to develop an understanding of your firm's environment, business operations, requirements, and problems rather than attempt to force fit a prepackage solution. Because services are provided selectively, as required, security costs are kept to a minimum.

Ethics and Ombudsmen Programs

A custom program is designed to implement the administration and operation of a corporate ombudsman program. Procedures and polices are established to facilitate operation by an investigative or security manager with appropriate legal coordination provided by in-house counsel or an outside legal firm. The program includes ethics awareness, fraud awareness, a hot line, and a reporting system.

Executive Family Security Planning

An evaluation is conducted of the home and lifestyle of an executive and his or her family. Guidance is provided to identify the most effective ways of pursuing their daily lives in a safe and secure environment. The physical security of the home will be maximized. Regular routines including travel to and from work, school, social occasions, and community activities will be evaluated for security weaknesses. Family members will be trained in a lifestyle of safety and security awareness and self-protection. This will include measures to protect and/or save themselves when danger is imminent, as well as learning how to avoid situations that make them vulnerable to crime, unsafe conditions, or other situations to which they could fall victim.

Surveillance Inspections And Countermeasures

Using sophisticated electronic equipment, our inspection team conducts an overall physical and electronic evaluation of your facility to determine whether electronic eavesdropping appears to have been or is currently being conducted. Technical activities cover RF transmissions, telephone system integrity, and the use of clandestine electronic devices. Physical inspection includes evaluation of security weaknesses that would allow surreptitious or clandestine entry to place devices, inspection for physical indications of such efforts, and evaluation of other activities contributing to overall vulnerability of the site. An oral briefing and a written report are provided at the completion of the inspection.
